Frontier Airlines
Last Friday I flew to Colorado to visit one of my amazing friends and I was able to find a very low priced ticket from Austin (AUS) to Denver (DEN). For a direct flight in peak hours, the price was nothing short of awesome.
The airline company I flew was Frontier Airlines. This was my first experience with them and let me tell you it was a great experience. I am used to flying with American Airlines, which is absolutely terrible. The prices are decent, but the flights are always delayed and their fleet is composed of older and smaller aircraft. Last time I flew AA, they overbooked the plane and I got booted from the flight. AA was the only company to actually lose my luggage.
My Frontier Airlines flights were both AHEAD of schedule. They actually departed BEFORE the time on the ticket. Usually with AA it’s safe to add 45 minutes to whatever depart time they give you because that’s usually how late they are.
I was expecting a lame aircraft, but what I got was a new Airbus 318/319 which is a 3 by 3 seated aircraft. It’s fairly large for a less than 2 hour flight. AA would have provided a MD80 of some sort. The Airbus cruised at about 540 mph and there was a TV screen on the back of every seat. Not only that, but when I flew back on Sunday they had Direct TV on and I was able to watch the Colts vs Bears football game in the frickin’ air! It was amazing.
In short, Frontier Airlines is an amazing carrier. They’re primarily based in Denver, but there is a direct flight from Austin to Denver that leaves on Friday. I hope to fly them again sometime soon!
